CIUTAT VELLA: The Old City. This is the location of the original Barcelona, the medieval city with its narrow streets, the Cathedral, the Roman Walls...

EIXAMPLE: After 1850, Barcelona outgrew its medieval walls. The fields between Old Barcelona and the old villages in the Barcelona plain were built following the Plā Cerdā, which consited basically in the square grid of streets spaced 100 meters apart. The Eixample was built duiring the Golden Age of the city, and here you can find most 'Modernista' and Gaudí's work.

GRĀCIA: The old town of Grācia keeps its townish feel in its narrow streets and lively plazas. The city 'Festa Major' hold for two weeks in mid-August is not to be missed. Also, in this district is where you find the Park Güell.

SANT MARTÍ: Most of the beaches of Barcelona are located in this district. It used to be a industrial district, which is in process of transformation. The Forum 2004 is located here.

HORTA: Hospital de Sant Pau and the Parc del Laberint are located here.
